Kidderminster Harriers defender Michael Briscoe has signed a one-year contract extension at Aggborough.

The 27-year-old becomes the third player to put pen to paper on a new deal before the end of the season, along with goalkeeper Danny Lewis and midfielder Callum Gittings.

Briscoe has become an integral part of the back four after joining from Tamworth last summer and has already made 41 appearances for Harriers.

However, the former Coventry youngster was set to miss tomorrow's Blue Square Premier game at Grimsby with an ankle injury.

But his longer-term future is secure and manager Steve Burr believes it's a testament to the player's progress.

He said: "Michael has improved no end this season and has been a very influential part of the team.

"We are pleased to be keeping him with us but, as we have said with all the lads, it's important that he continues to work hard and keeps pushing on.

"He has made a lot of progress but I know there is still more to come from him."
