Rangers more than 'draw specialists'
Stafford Rangers manager Matt Elliott wants his side to become more than just the "draw specialists" in their fight against relegation.
Stafford Rangers manager Matt Elliott wants his side to become more than just the "draw specialists" in their fight against relegation.
Rangers have shared the spoils in each of their last three Blue Square North matches, which has taken them out of the drop zone by two points.
Elliott's men have the initiative going into Saturday's game at Workington and the Rangers boss will again set his side up to be tough to beat.
But the manager believes the team can do more than play for a draw, as they look for the results that will lead them to safety.
Rangers have only won seven out of 35 league games this season but Elliott - who took charge in January - has overseen five of them.
He said: "We are becoming the draw specialists just lately and there's no such thing as a bad point in our position. We are looking at it positively.
"But I try and get it across to the lads that we are capable of winning any match that we go into, we don't go looking for a draw but you can change your opinion over the course of a game."
Elliott also hailed his players for Rangers' revival under his management, after a run that has seen them pick up nine points from their last six games.
He said: "I have been really pleased with our attitude and resilience in the last few games, the application has been world class and that could go a long way towards helping us achieve our target.
"I have instructed them on how I want them to approach the games, both individually and as a team, and they have stuck to it."
