Kidderminster Harriers utility man Tom Shaw was today emerging as a serious doubt for Saturday's Blue Square Premier home game with Luton.
Shaw was sent for a scan after being withdrawn just before half-time in Harriers' 2-1 win at Mansfield on Saturday, a heavy challenge leaving him with a foot injury.
An X-ray has confirmed no break but there is still significant bruising to his foot, which leaves him facing a race to be fit for Saturday's clash at Aggborough.
Callum Gittings replaced Shaw in midfield at Field Mill and would come into contention to take his place if he fails to make the game, along with Jack Byrne who was an unused substitute against Mansfield after a four-match suspension.
Shaw has not given up hope of recovering by the weekend but the initial prognosis from Harriers' physio Gavin Crowe today was touch and go.
He said: "It's going to be tight to get him available for Saturday's game, but we are doing as much as we can to get him right.
"It was an impact injury to the bottom of his foot following what looked like a pretty nasty challenge and he's also had some pain around the top of his foot as well.
"An X-ray has confirmed there is no fracture so it is just a matter of working with him and seeing if we can get him involved at the weekend."
