Kidderminster Harriers will put off extending the loan of Sean Canham until next week - so the striker can potentially play in the Blue Square Premier play-off final.

The club have already agreed a deal to bring Canham, who went back to Hereford on Monday after a month at Aggborough, until the end of the season.

But, under FA rules, Harriers are only allowed to keep the forward for a maximum of 93 days, including his first spell, which would have expired before the play-off final on May 21.

Harriers are currently in the top five and in the middle of a two-week break, making little sense to keep Canham, who is still carrying a slight Achilles injury which can be treated at Hereford.

But the 26-year-old is likely to be back at Aggborough next week, eligible to follow the team's promotion charge to the very end.

Manager Steve Burr said: "We are looking at it and we have spoken to Hereford, they are happy for him to stay and the lad himself is quite happy to stay. All of the boxes are ticked, so it's a question of waiting until next week to get it done.

"As far as I know, we are OK to keep him."

Canham and Co next head to Mansfield in the Blue Square Premier a week tomorrow and Harriers are slashing the price of travel across the Midlands on club-endorsed coaches to the high-noon showdown, hoping to get a 'Red Army' in the away end at Field Mill.

Supporters can travel there and back for just £10 but seats are limited, so book at either the Aggborough Ticket Office or call 01562 823 931 in advance.
