Steve Burr's new contract could wait

Kidderminster Harriers could delay signing Steve Burr up to a new contract until the end of the season - but the manager insists he is "more than happy" at the club.
Harriers first voiced their international to tie Burr down to a new deal two weeks ago, when Blue Square Premier rivals Grimsby made a formal approach to speak to their boss about their managerial vacancy.
Both Burr and the club rebuffed the Mariners' interest but the 51-year-old's stock is at an all-time high, with the team in the play-off places after an unbeaten 2011.
The England C assistant coach has ambitions of plying his trade at a higher level but it could come to pass with his current employers, depending on how the end of the season pans out - which both manager and club could wait for before putting pen-to-paper.
But Burr insists he has no immediate intentions of leaving Aggborough, after revealing he rejected the chance to talk to Grimsby out of hand.
He said: "I am more than happy where I am, so I didn't need to mull it over at all.
"I wouldn't say I am here to finish any job off, I am here to do the best that I can each and every week. I just want to manage as high as I can and that's what I am doing.
"If something else comes up and the club feel it's right then we will take it from there but, at the moment, I am not even thinking about anything else."
Burr still has 15 months to run on the two-and-a-half year deal he signed when he came from Stalybridge Celtic in January 2009.
But, verbally at least, conversation and negotiations are ongoing behind the scenes with chairman Mark Serrell on extending the terms of the manager and his assistant Gary Whild.
However, Serrell won't be able to give any iron-clad assurances on what he can offer Burr until Harriers know what division they will be in next season.
A deal could have to wait until the summer but for Burr, who saw the club come within hours of administration a month ago, the outlook is already a lot brighter.
He said: "I have had a meeting with Mark, where he has outlined his plans for myself and Gary, so we are having discussions and hopefully we can sort something out.
"It's nice that the club are looking for me to extend that beyond the following season and we are in a lot better position then we were."
