Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr has insisted he would rather his side didn't have the two-week break from games that has been enforced on them.

Harriers signed off for a fortnight with Saturday's fine 2-1 win at title-chasers AFC Wimbledon and will not be in action until they go to Mansfield on March 26.

Burr's men had been due to play Darlington at Aggborough in a Blue Square Premier game on Saturday but the Quakers are involved in the FA Trophy semi-final, where they take a 3-2 lead into the second leg at Gateshead this weekend.

The manager admits it's an unwelcome spell on the sidelines as his team are flying high in the league, cemented into the last play-off place with a five point lead on sixth-placed Fleetwood, who host Wrexham on Saturday.

But Harriers, who are still unbeaten in 2011, can use the time to let the players recharge their batteries and cure any niggles before the final eight games of the season, having already played 16 times this year.

However, Burr would rather not be at rest.

He said: "If I am being honest, I would sooner us be playing. We will have to make sure the break doesn't do us any harm.

"It will get one or two niggles sorted out but, when you've on a run like we're on at the moment, you want to be playing every Saturday and Tuesday night.

"The lads are looking forward to games."
