Kidderminster Harriers new-boy Matt Lowe will be in the squad to travel to AFC Wimbledon after signing on-loan from Macclesfield until the end of the season.

But the 20-year-old will not come straight into the team tomorrow at right-back to cover for the injured Tom Sharpe, as specialist Lee Vaughan is expected to take his place for the crunch clash against the Dons.

Lowe can also operate in central midfield and boasts another weapon in his arsenal - a Rory Delap-like long throw-in designed to cause problems in opposing penalty areas.

And the youngster is playing for his future as he is expecting to be released by Macclesfield, where he has made just one substitute appearance this season, in the summer.

A move to Aggborough puts him in the shop window and Harriers manager Steve Burr is hoping to see the best of his new signing.

He said: "I have watched Matt play and he is a good, young talent. It's an extra boost to bring him on board."

Boss Burr will be enforced into at least one change for the trip to Kingsmeadow, where they bid to stop their hosts returning to the stop of the Blue Square Premier.

Sharpe's dislocated knee is likely to have ended his season, after an X-ray yesterday confirmed a long injury lay-off, with Vaughan expected to get the nod ahead of new-boy Lowe.

Captain Keith Briggs and loan striker Sean Canham could also return after hamstring and Achilles injuries repsectively, while midfielder Jack Byrne sits out the last game of a four-match suspension.

Harriers go into the game in the play-off places, but Burr has banned all talk of the 'P' word in the dressing room.

He said: "The one thing you won't find in the dressing room is our lads talking about promotion, play-offs or that type of thing.

"What they talk about is the next test or the next game ahead, the next hurdle to overcome - that happens to be Wimbledon."
