Harriers set to extend striker's loan
Kidderminster Harriers are close to a deal that will keep on-loan striker Sean Canham at Aggborough until the end of the season.
Kidderminster Harriers are close to a deal that will keep on-loan striker Sean Canham at Aggborough until the end of the season.
Canham's current month-long deal from Hereford expires on Monday, after Saturday's crunch clash at promotion rivals AFC Wimbledon.
However, Harriers are already well down the road to extending his terms and hope to confirm his extended stay for the team's play-off push early next week.
The 26-year-old sat out Tuesday's night goalless draw with league leaders Crawley, but only just failed a late fitness test on a sore Achilles and comes back into contention for Saturday's trip.
And fellow striker Lee Morris, who was at Hereford before Canham arrived last summer, believes he has been proved right about the talents of the loan forward.
His former Bulls team-mates, former Harriers goalkeeper Adam Bartlett and Richard Rose, gave Morris the lowdown on the new-boy before he signed last month.
Now, after seeing Canham in action, Morris is hoping he will stay.
He said: "Sean is more experienced at a higher level than this, so he certainly adds more quality to the squad.
"With the run-in we are having, we need all the help we can get so, if he can stay, it will be good for the team."
Canham was brought in to cover Morris' absence with a thigh injury and the 30-year-old duly obliged by replacing the loanee on Tuesday night.
Morris got 78 minutes under his belt in his first start since January 25 and his hoping to have done enough to keep his place for the trip to the second-placed Dons.
He said: "It was nice to come back in for him, with all the big games coming up you want to be involved and it's hard sitting on the touchline.
"It's been mad how the fixtures have fallen, playing the top four one after the other, it's been a crazy couple of weeks.
"There's been some tough opposition and Saturday is no different, but we have got a bit of confidence behind us and we are starting to believe."
