Stafford Rangers captain Craig McAughtrie could be called straight back into the team after Ashley Wooliscroft went down with a groin injury.

McAughtrie completed a two-match suspension with Saturday's vital 2-1 win over bottom club Redditch at Marston Road, where Rangers came behind to claim only their fourth Blue Square North win of the season.

All of their victories have come at home but, if Matt Elliott's men can break their away duck on Saturday, they will take another big step towards safety.

Brian Little's Gainsborough are their hosts and are now the closest team to Rangers, who occupy the last relegation spot, in the league after they were beaten at home to Harrogate on Saturday.

The gap would close to three points with a game in hand if Rangers can win on Saturday, piling the pressure on the home side to pick up a result.

And McAughtrie could go straight back into the team with Wooliscroft struggling with a groin injury, which forced him to be replaced at half-time on Saturday.

The skipper is likely to get a run-out in tomorrow night's Staffordshire Senior Cup at home to Hednesford and is itching to get back in action.

He said: "Gainsborough are definitely a team that can be caught, we beat them at home earlier in the season so we know we can win. With the finances and the players they have got there, I don't really know what is going on.

"But, like any game in this league, we will have to want it more than the other team."
