Stafford Rangers manager Matt Elliott is hoping to sign Callum Wright in time to join the squad for the home game against league leaders Nuneaton.

The midfielder, who most recently played in the Welsh Premier League with Welshpool, is hoping to be registered in time to possibly play in the match tomorrow.

Wright should sign tonight, along with utility man Ashley Wooliscroft who is rejoining the club for a third spell from AFC Telford, while Elliott is still working on another couple of signings but they may have to wait until after the weekend.

Both could be pitched in at Marston Road tomorrow as Rangers are definitely missing midfielder Levi Reid and captain Craig McAughtrie, both suspended, while winger Fabrice Kasiama is out for another week with a medial ligament injury.

Defenders Mark Dudley and Jermaine Johnson are also still nursing foot and hamstring injuries, but are expected to be available to play.

The home side face a stern test in their fight against relegation with the visit of the table toppers but, after Nuneaton dropped points to Rangers' relegation rivals Hyde and Redditch recently, Elliott has told his players their opponents can be beaten.

He said: "I don't just say it for effect – I believe every game we go into is winnable.

"There have been some strange results recently, with the likes of Hyde and Redditch picking points up from Nuneaton and now we have got to do the same.

"We have been pretty close to getting something out of almost every game we have been in, so we are not a million miles away.

"The clubs above us are catchable, we have got a number of crunch games coming up but we can't sit and wait for things to happen.

"They have got to happen quite quickly, because if any of the teams above us go on a run that will cause us a problem."
