Stafford Rangers boss Matt Elliott will not be looking for a new assistant manager to join his backroom team at Marston Road.

Elliott has been assisted by goalkeeping coach John Reeves ever since Tim Flowers quit as boss last week, leaving the path clear for his former No 2 to be appointed as his permanent replacement.

The new manager has been working with Reeves ever since Flowers brought them both to the club last October and the two have formed a solid relationship, strengthened only further by recent events.

However, Elliott has not ruled out adding to his staff in the future but, at present, feels that the current management team are suitably stocked to lead Rangers.

He said: "At this moment in time, I don't feel a real need to have an extra member of staff. That may change but I feel between myself and John Reeves, we have got more than enough capabilities to do the job in hand.

"The board have also asked me that question and, if it was full-time football, perhaps another member of staff would be imperative.

"But, with it being part-time football, I feel that I can do what I need to do with the assistance of John."

Reeves has, in effect, been promoted with the backroom reshuffle and is now set to continue in the role.

And Elliott insists that, despite his area of expertise being goalkeeping, his acting No 2 has all of the tools to do the job.

The former Leicester and Scotland defender said: "John has been elevated, or repositioned shall we say, to assist me and he's been invaluable really.

"He's got a lot of knowledge in this area and at this level, on top of that he's a very nice man and we get on very well.

"We bounce ideas off each other and I listen to what he has to say."
