Prop Adam Sturdy could be in line for his first taste of rugby this season as Stourbridge Saxons head to National One high-fliers Cambridge.

The front row powerhouse underwent knee surgery in the summer and has yet to figure for the Stourton Park side in this campaign.

But with the weathermen predicting a thaw this weekend, Sturdy looks set for a shirt – albeit on the bench hoping for a cameo role late on at Wests Renault Park.

Saxons Director of Rugby Neil Mitchell will also have some of his walking wounded available after the freezing conditions wiped out their last two matches.

"We are still without Will Davis and his rib injury could keep him out for some time.

"And with Worcester Warriors involved in the British & Irish Cup, they have taken their Academy players back giving some of our own lads a chance to shine.

"Cambridge have won all their home games this season and they smashed Otley in their last match. It will be good to get back on the pitch but this is going to be a very tough game for us."

Training was written off last week with the Saxons struggling to find all-weather facilities. But they have resolved that this week by sharing a training session with Championship side Moseley at their Billesley Common facilities.
