Halesowen's boxing Royal Marine Keith Sheen is treating his rematch with Andrew Patterson next month as the first itch he needs to scratch.

Sheen and Patterson slugged it out in a thrilling six-rounder in July with referee Terry O'Connor unable to separate the two at the final bell, scoring the contest a 57-57 draw.

They will now do it all again on the same turf, Birmingham's Holiday Inn, on December 20, Sheen's first fight since the first meeting after seeing two bouts fall by the wayside.

The 31-year-old had to pull out of a British Masters title fight against Sean McKervey in September with an eye injury, before again having to rule himself out of a shot at rising welterweight star James Flinn earlier this month.

Sheen has been paired with Flinn three times already without success and twice with Patterson before the pair eventually got it on, leaving the Black Country boxer keen to settle the scores once and for all.

He said: "I would love to finally get hold of Flinn, I have got nothing against him but he's a good talent and I just want to test myself against him.

"It's the same with Patterson, I just want to get that blemish of a draw against him off my record, I have got nothing against him either.

"He's a really nice lad and always a produces a good scrap, which is the buzz I get out of boxing."

Sheen last pull out, with Patterson taking his place 10 days ago, saw his next opponent stopped in the sixth and last round, bringing to an end a two-fight winning run.

Frustrating periods of inactivity have become the norm when the forces can call him away at any point, a cross Sheen agrees he has to bear.

He said: "It's difficult with my job, I have got to be honest, boxing is an expensive hobby and there's a hell of a lot of travelling.

"Things unfortunately can fall through for me through no fault of my own, because of work."

Tickets for the four-fight dinner show are selling fast although a limited number of ringside tables are still available, priced at £1,000 for a table of 10.

Single seats are also available, priced at £60 each or £500 for a table of 10.

All tickets include a three course meal and can be purchased by calling promoter Paul ‘PJ’ Rowson on on 07976 283 157.
