Kidderminster Harriers utility man Chris McPhee has declared himself ready to answer the call to play as a striker again in Saturday's game at Barrow.

Harriers have a hole to fill up front for the trip up north, after loan man Marc Williams returned to Wrexham at the end of three months at Aggborough.

It was McPhee who reverted to midfield to cover a three-game suspension for Jack Byrne, allowing Williams to get his chance and sign off with a goal in last Saturday's home win over Eastbourne.

But Byrne is now eligible to return, freeing up his replacement to take a forward spot, although Nick Wright is also in contention waiting in the wings from the bench.

However, McPhee is Harriers' eight-goal top scorer and the hot favourite to partner Lee Morris at Holker Street.

And the 27-year-old revealed he is keen to get back on the goals trail after revealing he is already over halfway towards his target for the season.

He said: "There's a job to be done and, come 3pm Saturday, whatever team that goes out on the pitch will give it their all.

"It's a slightly different fitness position to position, but I know what I am capable of and I have quite a good base to work from in that respect.

"I am enjoying my football at the minute, results are going well and I am popping up with a few goals.

"My only objective is to score more than I did last season, I am looking for 15 goals this season and, if I can get 10 by Christmas, I will be over the moon."

McPhee has been used in defence, midfield and attack since joining Harriers in 2008, along with the occasional game on the wing.

The three-cap England C international is happy to be the team's Mr Dependable and only slightly prepares differently from job-to-job.

He said: "If I am starting up front, I will practice a bit of shooting before the game, if I am playing in midfield I do passing and if I am at the back I do heading - that's the only difference for me.

"That's something you can do on the day when you find out where you are playing, it depends on my position to my own personal preference of what I would like to do."
