Walsall have completed the signing of Barnsley striker Liam Dickinson on the eve of their League One home game against Peterborough.

The 25-year-old joins on an initial one-month loan and will follow Tykes team-mate Martin Devaney to the Banks's Stadium, although his temporary deal will expire after the game.

Dickinson is known to Saddlers boss Chris Hutchings through when the pair were at Derby, with the manager's first act to recall him from a loan spell at Blackpool when he was in caretaker charge at Pride Park.

The two have now been reunited at the Banks's Stadium and Dickinson could be in line for an instant debut tonight.

Hutchings said: "Liam is a big, strong lad who will cause problems for defenders. He will give us something different to what we've already got, he can run the channels, play up on his own or as part of a two-man attack.

"He is someone who I have worked with before and is a committed and willing lad who will help us put teams under pressure.

"He's scored goals in the past and hopefully this move will kick-start his career and help get us moving up the table."
