Lee Morris wants end to barren run
Kidderminster Harriers striker Lee Morris has admitted his barren run in front of goal is starting to get to him as the search for his first strike continues.
Kidderminster Harriers striker Lee Morris has admitted his barren run in front of goal is starting to get to him as the search for his first strike continues.
Morris has yet to break his duck for Harriers since signing in the summer in 11 appearances going into Friday night's game at Southport.
Another blank would match the 12 games he played for Hereford in the Football League without scoring in 2009/10 - and that was over a season.
But the 30-year-old has had a period out with a hamstring injury, not to mention contributing a significant number of assists to help the team climb into the top 10 of the Blue Square Premier table.
Management have been generally pleased with the all-round play of the one-time £3million man, but Morris himself is keen to get among the goals as soon as possible.
It's what centre-forwards are and will always be judged on, argues the former England under-21 international.
He said: "It's no secret, I am wearing the No 9 shirt and haven't scored yet, so that's always going to be playing on my mind.
"When you are a centre forward you are always going to be judged on goals and, until they come, I won't be happy with my overall performance.
"I am pleased enough with my general play, I have had a couple of up and down games but in the main I think I have done OK.
"I have definitely contributed to other people scoring this season, which is nice, and I know if I keep getting in the right areas the goals will come.
"But this is the longest I have gone without one, by a mile."
