Kidderminster Harriers utility man Tom Shaw is urging his team-mates to push for a play-off place after their FA Cup dream ended on Saturday.

Harriers went out at the first hurdle after a disappointing 2-0 home defeat against York at Aggborough and would have been rewarded with a trip to League Two club Rotherham with a win, not to mention £12,500 in prize money.

But Steve Burr's men could find no way back from a goal in each half from Danny Racchi and Jonathan Smith, with substitute defender Ollie Thorne also sent off late on for a bad tackle on Danny Parslow.

It was a sad day all round for Burr and his side, who had hoped for a good cup run to bring some much-needed revenue into the club.

However, in the Blue Square Premier Harriers have lost twice in 11 games and are in the top 10 of the table.

And Shaw - who played in midfield on Saturday after a spell at left-back - is eager for the team to kick on and climb into a play-off spot.

He said: "We are placed well in the league and form has been good, we've just got to push on again and keep pushing for the top five.

"Everybody wanted to be in that first round draw and have the opportunity against a big side, but it just didn't happen for us.

"No one can really put their finger on it in the changing room after the game but everyone is down about it.

"York's first was a disappointing goal for us to concede - one long ball down through the heart of us - but I get the feeling they came for something to cling on to.

"Once we gave them that goal, it was hard work getting back into it."
