Tipton super bantamweight Lee Glover has done his home work on Stoyan Serbezov ahead of his fight with the Bulgarian in Burton-on-Trent.
Glover will box a four-rounder at the Meadowside Leisure Centre next Friday night, after back-to-back wins in the summer starting with his professional debut in June.
And the 23-year-old was ringside at Birmingham's Holiday Inn earlier this month to see what he is up against, as Serbezov lost to Midlands featherweight champion Del Rogers on points after six rounds.
The busy Bulgarian has boxed 16 times in six countries since turning pro last September and, while he may have only won four, three of those were by knockout.
But Glover was a two-time ABA semi-finalist and Midlands champion as an amateur, with the plan for him to be fast tracked towards a title next year.
The popular 'Tipton Slasher' is expected to take around 100 fans with him to Burton-on-Trent and has a plan of action for inside the ring.
He said: "I am looking forward to it, he's a come forward fighter, quite gangly and throws some wild hooks.
"But Del boxed nice against him, used his skills, counter punched with the back hand and fended him off.
"I will be looking to get behind the jab and unload with my good shots, I can box and mix it.
"The plan is not to get pushed back, but a lot can happen when you get in there."
Glover's year is expected to be rounded off with a long-awaited fight against Yannis Lakrout, having been twice been paired with the Frenchman.
The two will hope it's third time lucky at Birmingham's Holiday Inn on December 20, where they were first supposed to meet in July.
It was put back to Wolverhampton Civic Hall last month, but Glover had to pull out with injury after he was cut sparring with Aston's Chris Truman.
But the Black County boxer is confident of finally facing and ultimately defeating Lakrout on Christmas week.
He said: "I will be looking to get straight on in the New Year as well, I want to be out in January and February if I can.
"On paper, Lakrout is the tougher of my two opponents, he's won a couple but I think I can overcome him."

Sky Sports are to televise the fight from the famed Kokugikan in Tokyo, with coverage starting at 10am.
And Wolverhampton fight fans can watch the action live at the city centre's Rileys Bar, Broad Street, who are opening early for the world title showdown.
