Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr has spelled out the financial importance of Saturday's FA Cup tie against York to his players.
Harriers will have to get through an all-Blue Square Premier game at Aggborough to reach the first round proper, with £12,500 in prize money alone for the winner.
The next phase will see the likes of fallen Premier League clubs Sheffield Wednesday and Southampton enter the fray, potentially lucrative ties on gate money alone before factoring in possible TV coverage.
The further you go the more likely is to happen as Harriers can testify, playing in the third round at Coventry in 2009 and Wolves in 2004.
They even reached the fifth round in 1994, losing at home to West Ham in front of nearly 8,000 people at Aggborough.
The rewards are there, with Burr calling on his players to bring home the bacon and ease some of the money worries at cash-strapped Harriers.
He said: "Everybody wants that big day, teams at our level that start in the earlier rounds and go one step further are always looking at it.
"All the teams that play on Saturday will want to get through and keep that cup run going.
"The financial side of it is quite big now, with the money that is at stake, and we are desperate for it. Money's tight at the club, so a good cup run would be fantastic.
"It's important because it's the next game, but it adds more to it because we don't get £12,500 for every league game we win!"
It's the first game as Harriers manager for Burr in the FA Cup on Saturday, although he steered Northwich Victoria to a third round tie at Sunderland in 2006.
Now-Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was in charge of the Black Cats and, despite losing 3-0, Burr has great memories.
He said: "I always look forward to the FA Cup, it's a great competition and I have been fortunate enough to be involved in some great games, as a manager and a player.
"To go to Sunderland was really something, it was a great day out at the Stadium of Light for everybody involved with the club."
