New Stafford Rangers manager Tim Flowers officially starts work today with the club united in their belief they have got the right man for the job.

Former England goalkeeper Flowers will take charge of tonight's training session, ahead of the Blue Square North home game against Gloucester on Saturday.

It follows a whirlwind few days before and after his appointment last Thursday, with the new manager in the stands for the 1-0 defeat at Nuneaton at the weekend.

His road to Rangers began with a personal call of recommendation from Kidderminster Harriers boss and England semi-professional team assistant coach Steve Burr, with Flowers leaving a lasting impression on the board in a subsequent job interview.

Chairman Mike Hughes will work alongside him in the dawn a new era at Marston Road and is confident he has made the right choice.

He said: "It's a bit of a coup for the club, Tim was the outstanding candidate and impressed us very much at the interview.

"His positive attitude and determination to succeed were what shone through, because his record speaks for itself.

"Any appointment is a gamble but we think we have got the right man for the job, he just oozes positivity and it's given us all a lift.

"He has imitated to us that he wants to get Stafford Rangers back to where they should be, he knows it's a tough job and what it's restrictions are but we are all behind him as a board.

"The situation hasn't changed at the club because we have got a new manager, we have got to walk before we can run and everyone is keeping level headed."
