Former Kidderminster Harriers defender Duane Courtney has re-opened the war of words with his old boss Steve Burr ahead of his return to Aggborough next week.

There has been bad blood between the two ever since Courtney left for York in the summer, which is likely to continue when the right-back is back at Aggborough for an FA Cup tie between the two clubs on Saturday week.

Comments made by Courtney in the run-up to the opening day of the season, when Harriers went to York, raised the ire of Burr, who defended claims that "quite a few players have a grudge against Kidderminster, as they feel they were messed about."

Burr would not rise to the bait any further, simply replying that "sometimes players think the game owes them a living."

On the field, Harriers went on to win the game, with Courtney giving away a penalty in a 2-1 defeat.

Their paths have not crossed since but Courtney, with nine days still to go before the cup tie, has threw another shot by claiming that Burr verbally abused him at the end of that game.

He said: "I had no problem controlling my emotions that day, even if the Kiddy fans took my comments before the game the wrong way.

"I would love it if their fans gave me stick again and, at the end of the day, it's all about what happens on the pitch, not what's going on around it.

"I wasn't happy with what their manager said to me at the end of the game though.

"That really hurt and I would definitely be out to get him back for that."

Harriers' Blue Square Premier game at Southport at the end of the month has been put back a day.

The match, which will be televised on Premier Sports, will now take place on Friday October 29 (7:45pm).
