Kidderminster Harriers defender Mark Albrighton has warned he will take some budging after reclaiming his place in the team.

Ollie Thorne's thigh strain has opened the door for the 34-year-old to reclaim his place in the centre, right from when he first suffered the injury in the first-half against Gateshead a week ago.

Albrighton then got 90 minutes under his belt in Sunday's 3-2 win over Grimsby and is likely to stay in the team for Saturday's game at Kettering.

It's a harsh way for Thorne to lose his place but in similar circumstances to how he got in to begin with, drafted in from Newport County with Albrighton suspended for a red card against Tamworth.

Tom Sharpe is also having to be content with a place on the bench, kept out by the impressive form at the back of Michael Briscoe.

When Thorne returns all four will slug it out for two places with Albrighton, despite his veteran status, adamant he is perfectly capable of playing week in and week out.

He said: "There's four of us vying for a place and, at the moment, it's down to myself and Michael to make sure that Ollie and Tom can't get back in.

"That's what you want, a little bit of competition so you are really pushing yourself to stay in the team.

"I couldn't really moan about not playing, the sending off was harsh but the team were doing well. I have been about the block now and I am not one to rock the boat.

"I am looking to play every week, that is what I came to the club for, so the aim now is to get seven or eight games under my belt and, when my match fitness comes back, take it from there.

"I feel fit, I haven't missed a training session yet and I want to work."
