Kidderminster Harriers today faced an anxious wait to discover the extent of the injury suffered by defender Ollie Thorne against Gateshead.

The centre-half limped off after just 42 minutes of last night's 2-1 win at Aggborough, with Mark Albrighton coming on in his place.

Thorne had earlier given away a penalty, converted by former Harriers midfielder Martin Brittain, to leave his team trailing but goals from Jack Byrne and a first for the club from Matthew Blair saw Steve Burr's men turn the game on it's head.

It's now six games unbeaten on Aggborough turf for Harriers and a response to away defeats at Bath City and Crawley, ahead of another home game against Grimsby on Saturday.

But Thorne could face a race to be fit for the weekend, with the 20-year-old desperate to stay in the team having nailed down a place since joining in August.

Albrighton impressed as his replacement last night and will be looking to stay in, with assistant boss Gary Whild admitting there could be a change in personnel afoot.

He said: "We don't know about Ollie yet - hopefully it is nothing too serious.

"If the lad is struggling it was best to bring him off to give our physio Gavin Crowe a chance to look at him and, all being well, it is something we can manage between now and the weekend.

"I think Mark Albrighton is a bit understated in the role he played last night. He's an experienced player and he showed that - he was at it straight away and set a good example to the rest of the lads.

"To be fair to be him you could say that once he came on we got back into the game, so he's done well."
