Rangers loan duo still on board
Stafford Rangers loan duo Harry Davis and Kelvin Mellor have told they still have a future at Marston Road despite their omission from the team.
Stafford Rangers loan duo Harry Davis and Kelvin Mellor have told they still have a future at Marston Road despite their omission from the team.
Both were left out of the 3-1 win over Gainsborough last weekend with one eye on Saturday's FA Cup tie at Eastwood, which neither are allowed to play in.
Swift transfer dealings saw Ashley Woolliscroft, on a month's loan from Telford, and Darren Wrack come in to the team with both permitted to be involved in the cup game.
But the Crewe youngsters, regulars in the team since the start of the season, have continued to train with the Rangers squad and come back into contention after the weekend.
Their loans don't expire until the second week in October, making them eligible for the league trip to Hinckley but not for the following week's FA Cup third qualifying round tie, should Rangers progress past the second phase.
And assistant boss Steve Wynn has confirmed management will consider using the duo when and where possible.
He said: "We have left it open and we will see how we go with the two lads.
"There's nothing cynical in it, Crewe understandably don't want the lads cup tied as they only have a small squad of their own.
"We were in a situation where we needed to get players in for the cup game and we managed to do that earlier than we had anticipated, so they both started and now we have a settled side for Saturday.
"But they are both still on loan to us and are training with the lads, we can never have enough players and are squad is bigger than ever at the moment."
