Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has received an invitation to play for Sierra Leone.

The 26-year-old, of Sierra Leonean descent, is mulling over an offer from Leone Stars coach Christian Cole to play in their African Nations Cup qualifier at home to South Africa next month on October 10.

London-born Reo-Coker captained England at Under-21 level and was pencilled in to be on stand-by for their 2006 World Cup squad until a back injury forced him to withdraw.

However, he is still eligible to play for the West African nation because he has never played for the Three Lions at senior level.
