Departing Hednesford manager Bernard McNally today insisted he leaves Keys Park with no ill feelings – and has urged his former players to go and win promotion.
The club announced McNally's shock departure yesterday just a month into the season, with the former Albion and Northern Ireland star leaving the Keys Park club eighth in the Zamaretto League Premier Division.
McNally insists he feels no bitterness over his exit and, after steering the Pitmen to the play-offs last season, believes he has left them in good shape for another promotion push.
The 47-year-old said: "Things in football like this happen. I'm trying to be positive. I don't want to become bitter and twisted about things.
"The chairman has had to make certain decisions just like I do with players. It's just a case now of moving on.
"I enjoyed my time there and it was a terrific experience for me. I wish the club nothing but the best and hope the players can build on Saturday's performance (the 3-0 win over Salisbury).
"They looked like they had gelled brilliantly and I feel I've left them with a platform they can build on."
