Hednesford manager Bernard McNally has stunned the club and left just a month into the season.

McNally's shock departure comes with the club eighth in the Southern League Premier Division, after an impressive 3-0 win over Salisbury on Saturday.

The Pitmen are just a point off the play-off places after four wins from their first nine games but crashed out of the FA Cup to Newcastle Town last week.

McNally took Hednesford to the play-offs last season before they were beaten in the semi-final by Chippenham.

A club statement read: "After a turbulent week at Keys Park, which witnessed another early exit from the FA Cup, a lacklustre draw against Swindon Supermarine FC in midweek and then Saturday's performance and 3-0 win against previously unbeaten Salisbury, the club have parted company with manager Bernard McNally.

"We would sincerely wish Bernard all the best for his future and will now commence the search for his replacement before our next fixture, the away trip to Brackley on October 2."
