Sammy Yu, one of the men behind Carson Yeung's takeover of Birmingham, has quit St Andrew's.
Yu, who held various positions both during takeover talks and after Yeung took charge, has severed ties with the club.
Yu's most influential role was as vice-chairman of football with a brief including the development of the club's academy, but he took a back seat in recent months.
He said: "After four years being part of the deal, from the beginning, I have done my bit.
"It's time to release myself and I wish Birmingham City all the best for the future.
"To be part of the club's history - a very important era - is a highlight of my life."
