Kidderminster Harriers midfielder John Finnigan will seek a second opinion tomorrow on the long-injury calf injury that is ruining his career at Aggborough.
Finnigan has yet to kick a ball for the team this season and will see another specialist at Worcester University to try and get to the root of the problem.
The 34-year-old was given a time-frame of three weeks before he could train fully after being given a third injection last month but is still having problems even running, as his calf cramps up with anything more than a gentle jog.
It has also restricted his coaching duties, as he is spending long periods away from the training field doing whatever his body will allow him to in the gym.
The midfielder's medial ligament injury, picked up in a pre-season friendly, has completely healed but his calf troubles are refusing to go away.
And Finnigan admits it could be some time before his return.
He said: "I am still a long way off even full training at the moment, it's one of them where I am trying to do things and I end up back to square one.
"It's worrying, obviously I am not getting any younger and if things don't improve quickly it could be curtains for next year, not just at Kidderminster but any club because I would be unemployable.
"I am still hoping that we can get to the bottom of this and I can get over it, it's been on and off for a long time but this year it seems to be more frequent.
"I have just got to keep going, I do have days where I get down about it, it's the most frustrating thing in the world but I have got to try and stay positive."
