Levi Reid urging patience at Rangers
Stafford Rangers winger Levi Reid has urged supporters to be patient with their young stars as the experienced players show them the way on the field.
Stafford Rangers winger Levi Reid has urged supporters to be patient with their young stars as the experienced players show them the way on the field.
Reid is the second oldest head in the camp at 26, ahead of captain Craig McAughtrie who turned 29 in March.
The rest range from the likes of goalkeeper Lee Evans, a few months younger than Reid at 26, while longest-serving player Andre Francis is 25.
Then come the younger players who have at least a season under their belts such as Nick Wellecomme, Ben Mills, Fabrice Kasiama and Jon Patrick.
But the fresh blood coming into Marston Road this summer has been very young, with Mark Dudley just 20 years old while Crewe loan duo Harry Davis and Kelvin Mellor are both teenagers.
It's the fledglings that are having to dig deep the hardest at the moment as Rangers endure a three-match losing streak, going into another tough game against Brian Little's Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday.
And Reid for one is happy to help the younger players get over the slump - by setting an example on the pitch.
He said: "We have got to be like role models to them.
"I have been there myself when I was a young lad coming through at Port Vale, it's always good when the older players are looking out for you. It's our job to help the younger lads along.
"We have all got to stick together and, if we do that, we will turn it around. What has happened is gone now, we have got to move on.
"We have the right attitude, we go out to win games although no-one ever expects us to get anything.
"I can understand the fans frustration, but there's no one more frustrated than we are."
