Birmingham new boy Jean Beausejour has been cleared to make his debut in Saturday's derby showdown with Albion after finally being granted a visa.

The Chile international winger arrived on deadline day from Mexican side Club America but has been back in his home country over the past week to resolve the issue.

The 26-year-old linked up with Blues yesterday and is now in contention for the Hawthorns clash, which could see him lock horns with international team-mate Gonzalo Jara.

Elsewhere, Scott Dann sees "no reason" why Fabio Capello shouldn't consider him and Roger Johnson for an England call-up.

The pair have formed a rock-solid partnership at the heart of Birmingham's defence, shutting out Liverpool on Sunday, and there have been calls for them to get a chance at international level in some quarters.

Dann said: "We don't really speak about it. Roger and I just try to do our job at a good level and if we keep playing like that there's no reason why the England manager can't come and have a look.

"But we've just got to keep performing in the Premier League and hopefully whether it comes sooner or later in our careers we can make that step up."

Birmingham attacker James McFadden, meanwhile, has thanked boss Alex McLeish for showing faith in him after being labelled a "maverick" by Scotland manager Craig Levein.

McFadden said: "I don't like to talk about it. A lot has been said and I don't think it's the time to talk about it.

"I came back and the gaffer was very nice and supportive. He showed a bit of faith in putting me up front against Liverpool and I thank him for letting me play there and just allowing me to get on with my job.

"Is up front my best position? I would say so. But you fit in where the team needs you. The last year-and-a-half it's been wide left and I've not complained.

"It's a big problem for the manager, I suppose, to find a position for me, but I enjoyed it on Sunday."
