Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr will take a break from his club duties to assist the England C team - against two of his own players.

Burr is the right-hand man to coach Paul Fairclough with the non-league national team, who take on their Wales counterparts away from home at Newtown's Latham Park tonight.

England are using the game as a warm up to next month's big Challenge Trophy tie with Estonia, while their hosts are also set to name an experimental team for the game.

Harriers may not be represented in the England squad but the brothers Williams are among the Welsh ranks, defender Mike stepping up from the initial contingency squad while younger sibling Marc is a fixture up front for both the non-league and under-21 teams.

The last time an England C international came from Aggborough was when Matthew Barnes-Homer made his bow last season, before moving on to Luton in a big-money move.

But Harriers boss Burr is not afraid to bend the ear of Fairclough to end that wait, provided they do the business on the field at club level.

He said: "We've got a few good, young lads at Kiddy and I won't be hesitating to push one or two forward if they can show some good form consistently for us back at Aggborough.

"Obviously Paul has the final say in terms of selection but I'm sure we have some players who, with a little bit more time, are capable of making the England set-up."

Burr will also be keeping a close on his two club men playing for Wales tonight.

He added: "Obviously having Marc and Mike involved makes things more interesting!"
