Kidderminster Harriers right-back Lee Vaughan has been tipped to get better and better as he settles into life as a full-time footballer.

The 24-year-old has started the last three games after having his debut prolonged by a four-match ban, relating to his time as a semi-professional at AFC Telford last season.

Management saw enough in the England C international to hand him a two-year deal in the summer, a proper chance to make his name in the game after coming through the youth ranks of Portsmouth and Walsall in his teens.

Vaughan had waited long enough for the opportunity, after spending four years in the Blue Square North and below with Telford, who wanted to keep him at the Bucks Head this summer.

But the Solihull-born defender's burning ambition saw him leave for Harriers and, with the team unbeaten in the last two games, looks to have played his part so far.

Assistant boss Gary Whild, himself still adapting to the full-time game after leaving his post as Redditch manager in the summer, believes Vaughan is one of a promising crop of youngsters given their chance at Aggborough who, with time and patience, will only get better.

He said: "Effort-wise, Lee is 120 per cent and he gives you a lot of energy down that right-hand side.

"He is a good character to have around the place and the key thing is that he is only 24, he's of a young age and so there is still a lot of room to progress.

"What you see of Lee on the pitch is what you get with him off it - he's a bottle of pop and has plenty to say for himself!

"But he's a fantastic personality and certainly keeps a few on their toes."
