Stourbridge fighter Kevin McCauley aims to get one over on Sean McKervey and them goad into defending his British Masters title against him.

The two have been paired at late notice in a welterweight four-rounder at Wolverhampton Civic Hall tomorrow, but are fit to fight after training to take on different opponents on the bill.

McCauley, who flits between light middleweight and welter at will, was the scheduled opponent for the professional debut of junior ABA championship finalist Mark Heffron at 10st 7lb.

McKervey was originally supposed to defend his title against Halesowen's boxing marine Keith Sheen, only for the challenger to pull out with an eye injury.

There's no belt at stake but McCauley is keen to upset the champion and leave him with revenge in mind for later down the line.

He said: "I won't have any problems with McKervey at all, I have all the confidence in the world I will beat him. He comes forward and throws bombs, he's not a smart boxer and that suits me down to the ground.

"I will start with a nice boxing round, see what he is like and see if his power bothers me, which I don't think it will.

"He's not fought anyone of my caliber and I am going to give him some stick. And, if I can beat him, he might want to fight me again with the title on the line.

"If that happens, I will train 10 times harder."

Tickets are still available and will be on the day of the show, on the door at the Civic.

To get tickets today, call the box office on 0870 320 7000 or promoter Paul 'PJ' Rowson on 07976 283 157.
