Kidderminster Harriers loan signing Aman Verma faces an uncertain weekend going into the visit to bottom club Altrincham.

Verma fractured a bone in his hand on his debut at Newport County last Saturday and had to be replaced, so was an unused substitute for Monday's game against Tamworth as a precuation.

The player expects to know by the time the team make the trip to Greater Manchester the full extent of the injury, and could even be cleared to play tomorrow if he has a soft cast on his hand.

If a stronger cast is needed there is no chance of him playing and, depending on how long it's on, could bring his time at Aggborough to a premature end.

The 22-year-old still has three weeks left on his loan deal but, if he were to be out for a sustained period, Harriers would then seek talks with his parent club Leicester on how best to proceed from there.

Verma was brought in to cover the loss of John Finnigan, whose calf injury flared up again, although the player-coach could return to training next week.

On the pitch, Harriers are looking for their first win since the opening day of the season in their seventh game, although two have been draws.

Facing their win-less hosts is a good chance to break that duck, with manager Steve Burr insisting there is no hangover in the camp.

He said: "That's the pleasing part - the character that's been shown in the dressing room.

"This week they have been upbeat in training and there is nothing wrong with the atmosphere around the place.

"The players are very positive and they feel themselves that we're not far from kicking on, but the sooner we do that the better."
