Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo today demanded mental strength from his team as they try to end their Liverpool hoodoo at Anfield on Sunday.

The Baggies head coach admitted his players must learn lessons from their 6-0 loss at Chelsea when they face another of the Premier League's heavyweights.

And Albion have lost all eight of their Premier League meetings with Liverpool, failing to score a single goal and conceding 23.

Di Matteo said: "It would be amazing if we could get something positive out of the game. It would be fantastic for the team, the players and the club.

"It will be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully we have learned from the Chelsea game and we will be mentally a little bit tougher against Liverpool.

"We responded well against Sunderland and didn't make many mistakes, but we are travelling away from home and we need to get some points away from home as well.

"Let's hope that we learn quickly and also mentally we have to be stronger and a bit tougher."
