Stafford Rangers striker Ben Mills has been ruled out of the Bank Holiday double-header after failing to recover from a pulled thigh muscle.

A 20-minute run-out in Tuesday's 2-0 win at Ilkeston only aggravated the injury further, so Mills will miss tomorrow's home game against Worcester and Monday's trip to Alfreton.

Strike partner Nick Wellecomme is making good progress coming back from an ankle injury but is also a doubt for both games, although he will given every chance right up until kick-off to prove his fitness.

Further absence from the first-choice duo is likely to give Tyree Clarke and Chris Smalling another chance to impress, with Smalling boasting two goals in three games since making his debut against Solihull Moors.

Clarke is also off the mark after netting against Guiseley last weekend, the day after signing for the club from AFC Telford.

And manager Chris Brindley will not hesitate to use the pair in tandem again if necessary.

He said: "The two lads have done well and worked hard, they have got us out of a bit of an hole, to be honest.

"If we have to play them both up front again this weekend, we haven't got a problem with that."

Rangers may be unbeaten in three but Worcester have won three in-a-row, a flying start to life in the Blue Square North after switching from the South.

With both teams on-form, Brindley is expecting fireworks tomorrow.

He said: "It should be a good game, we have had them watched and you can't argue with their form. They have scored a lot of goals and have got some good players.

"They should bring a decent crowd with them as well, so we are all looking forward to it.

"It was vital for us to win on Tuesday and, with what we have got coming up, we need to get something from tomorrow."
