Stafford Rangers assistant boss Steve Wynn has hailed the team for meeting the targets set out for them by management so far.

Tuesday's 2-0 win at Ilkeston saw Rangers go unbeaten in three, a one-goal defeat at Boston United on the opening day the only game in which they have failed up points.

Two home matches followed which saw a first win of the season against Solihull Moors, before a draw against Guiseley last Saturday.

It leaves Chris Brindley's men a handsome ninth in the Blue Square North table after four games and how those points could be handy with games to come against Worcester and Alfreton over the Bank Holiday weekend, before a tough trip to Droylsden.

And Rangers No 2 Wynn believes that targeting a certain amount of points from little clusters of games is giving the players realistic goals to go for.

He said: "Points are crucial at any stage of the season and it takes the pressure off everybody. It has been a positive return for us.

"It's good to set targets, individually and as a team, breaking seasons down into pockets because it's a long old campaign.

"We had targeted at least four points from our two home games, which we got, and at least a point at Ilkeston – where we got three.

"If we had been offered that on the coach coming home from Boston on the opening day, we would have taken it.

"It's true you take what you can get to a degree and we are operating on a lower scale in the league, but it's important there is a positive attitude portrayed to the players."
