Walsall attacker Reuben Reid today admitted he owes the Saddlers everything for handing him a career lifeline.
The forward is desperate to regain his form after struggling to make the breakthrough at Albion.
The Baggies loanee scored on his Saddlers debut in the 2-1 win over Plymouth last weekend and is set for a bigger role, after Steve Jones was ruled out for up to three weeks with a sprained ankle.
Reid said: "I need to get back into the swing of things. I've not played as much as I would have liked over the past year.
"I want to play regularly and I'm thankful to Walsall for giving me this opportunity. I just want to work hard and prove that I am worthy of a place in the team.
"Last year was way too stop-start for me and now I intend to do well for myself and Walsall."
The 22-year-old was given a standing ovation by the Saddlers' fans after he was withdrawn late in the game on Saturday and was blown away by the reception.
He said: "It's always nice to get a positive reaction from the fans.
"As I was leaving the field I was concentrating on getting off alive as I was really blowing at that point, but to hear the applause of the crowd gave me a big lift.
"There was a feel-good factor as soon as I walked into the club and this can only help with my performances."
Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo was also pleased Reid made an instant impact.
He added: "He is still a young boy and he hasn't had much opportunity to play. It is important for the boy to play week in, week out.
"That is the only way to develop and become a better player."
Walsall's next game, the trip to Brighton on Saturday, is all ticket for travelling fans. None are available on the gate.
Supporters have until 12pm on Friday to buy their tickets for the trip to the Withdean Stadium.
They are available at the Banks's Stadium, the club shop in Walsall town centre or by calling 01922 651414/416.
They cost £21 for adults, £15 for senior citizens and £16.50 for students.
