Kidderminster Harriers were today awaiting clearance to name new signing Marc Williams in their squad to face Southport at Aggborough.
The Wrexham striker has already signed a three-month loan deal to join Harriers but faces a race against time to be eligible for the first home game of the season tonight, with the club chasing the Welsh Football Association for the final formalities.
Harriers have also been boosted by the news that player-coach John Finnigan has returned to training, after missing Saturday's 2-1 win at York with a twisted knee.
Lee Morris also looks likely to be fit despite being replaced at half-time at KitKat Crescent, going off with a hamstring injury. In fact, right-back Lee Vaughan is the only definite absentee, sitting out the second game of a four-match ban.
The signing of striker Williams takes the squad back to 19 players for the season ahead, after outcast defender Gavin Caines joined league rivals Forest Green Rovers.
New-boy Williams is the younger brother of Harriers' defensive summer signing Mark, who also made the move from Wrexham to Aggborough this summer.
A long-standing metatarsal injury has led to him falling out-of-favour at the Racecourse Ground over the last couple of seasons, but Harriers manager Steve Burr is confident he can get he best out of the 22-year-old.
He said: "Marc is someone I have been keeping an eye on for a while now and I'm pleased we've been able to agree something with Wrexham to get him here.
"He has a good goal-scoring record and is in good shape following his injury, so hopefully we can get him hitting the back of the net for us.
"He will give us even more strength in those forward areas and, fingers crossed, we can get everything sorted in time for him to play against Southport."
