Kidderminster Harriers have been boosted on three fronts today as the countdown begins to Saturday's Blue Square Premier season opener at York.

Harriers this morning completed the signing of Matthew Blair on non-contract forms, after the winger spent all pre-season on trial with the club upon leaving AFC Telford.

Frowns have also been turned upside down with the news that defender Tom Sharpe and player-coach John Finnigan are winning their fitness fight to make the first game of the season, after both were replaced in Saturday's 3-0 friendly win at Hednesford.

It soured an otherwise pleasing win for Harriers at Keys Park with quick-fire goals from Chris McPhee, Keith Briggs and Lee Morris sealing a comfortable win to close out pre-season.

All were present and in good spirits for today's team picture at Aggborough, although boss Steve Burr refuses to take for granted that Sharpe and Finnigan's injury problems will have cleared up by Saturday.

The manager said: "That is part and parcel of it, we'll have to get on with things - but considering that up to now we've had no injuries whatsoever this summer, it is a bit of a concern.

"I have no idea how serious Finnigan's injury is until I have a chat with our physio Gavin Crowe.

"It is too early but hopefully the pair of them will be okay, we'll know more as we go on this week."
