Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr has told his players there are places still up-for-grabs for those that perform in the final pre-season friendly at Hednesford.

Harriers close out their schedule at Keys Park tomorrow before the big business begins - the Blue Square Premier opener at last season's beaten play-off finalists York next Saturday.

But Burr insists there will nothing friendly about the game, as all of the players involved will be looking upon the 90 minutes as a last chance to impress their respective managers before the season starts.

Harriers come into the match in good form having won their last six pre-season games, after losing the first three.

It's almost a brand new squad after a busy summer of wheeling and dealing and Aggborough, with 19 contracted players to choose from going into the new campaign.

As it's a fresh line-up no-one has put down a marker in the team, with the manager keen to stress that nothing is set in stone.

He said: "We will have the line-up for York in mind when we pick the team for tomorrow, because that is the squad we will go into the season with.

"It's another game to get under our belts, a good performance individually and collectively will hold us in good stead.

"There are shirts still to play for - that is the idea of a squad. It's no good having a bunch of players if you have no faith in them to step in.

"It will be the same for Hednesford, the lads that will be out for them tomorrow will be looking to impress their manager and get a shirt for the opening day."
