New-boy Mike Williams believes Kidderminster Harriers are getting into the winning habit ahead of their next pre-season game at home to Crewe Alexandra.

The defender, a summer signing from Wrexham, played the full 90 minutes on Saturday as Harriers upset another Football League club, Paul Peschisolido's Burton Albion, 1-0 at Aggborough through Tom Shaw's penalty.

Williams has been brought in for his versatility across the back four and is expected to challenge for a place at centre-half and jostle with Aaron Griffiths for the left-back spot.

On the pitch things are starting to look up for Steve Burr's men, who recorded their fourth pre-season win on the trot at the weekend after losing their first three friendly games.

And Williams believes that is the perfect tonic ahead of tonight's match at Aggborough (7:45pm).

He said: "The games as we are getting closer to pre-season are when things start clicking into place.

"It is a fairly new squad and the lads are trying to gel - but I thought we did well against Burton.

"You need to get into good habits and, if you are winning, then you are going to take it into the next game.

"You get that confidence and that buzz in the dressing room and go into the next game thinking you can do the same."

Many of the players of last season's Harriers team have been on the move over the weekend.

Long-serving midfielder Dean Bennett is rumoured to be on the verge of joining Irish club Dundalk, while winger David McDermott has signed for Blue Square Premier rivals York after impressing on trial.

Loan signings from last season, midfield duo Marc Goodfellow and Lloyd Kerry, are also on the verge of getting fixed up.

Goodfellow has gone to another league rival in Barrow, while Kerry is on the verge of becoming a semi-professional player with Blue Square North club Hinckley United.

Another Hinckley player, Connor Franklin, is interesting Burton, but the Knitters want a fee for the left-back, which ended Harriers' interest this summer after a trial period.
