Stafford Rangers assistant boss Steve Wynn believes the club's patience in the transfer market this summer could soon pay off.

Rangers have only officially signed three players for the new season in Craig McAughtrie, Ben Mills and Nick Wellecomme, but have confirmed verbal agreements have been reached with four more while most of the rest of last season's squad have returned for pre-season.

But Wynn and boss Brindley are casting the net far and wide looking to bring new blood into the club, although they are having to be coy on their targets with limited resources to offer players.

Released Kidderminster Harriers midfielder Dean Bennett played for the club against Hednesford on Saturday but the likes of AFC Telford and Halesowen are also in the hunt for his services, while management are known to be looking for a central defender.

Pre-season is into it's fourth week for Rangers and the third for most of the full-time clubs, with decisions soon to be made up and down the country on the final squads for the year ahead.

And Wynn believes before too long there will be a lot more players available and within Rangers' reach.

He said: "You get two or three friendlies under your belt and, believe it or not, players start getting itchy at other clubs if they are not getting a lot of game time, because some clubs approach the friendlies in different ways.

"Some don't use it as a fitness tool and to look at their options, some want to use games to get to where they want to be for the opening day of the season, so you will get players knocking the door after that asking the manager if they are going to feature.

"And, one thing is for sure, when the money aspect of it goes, players do want to play football."
