Kidderminster Harriers new-boy Keith Briggs believes the hard slog of being back in pre-season training is a necessary evil as he settles back into the full-time game.
The former Norwich, Stockport and Shrewsbury midfielder is undertaking his first day-to-day pre-season since dropping to semi-pro two years ago, spending two seasons in the Blue Square North with Stalybridge Celtic.
Briggs was reunited with his former boss at the Bower Fold, current Harriers manager Steve Burr, at Aggborough this summer after signing a one-year deal, meeting with his new team-mates for the first time at the first session yesterday morning.
Speaking while modelling the club's new yellow away kit, the 28-year-old is loving life at his new club - even if it's hard work at the moment!
He said: "Pre-season is always tough - I don't think any footballer really enjoys it!
"But it's part and parcel of being in the game, it is all about working hard and preparing for that first game of the season. It's hard work but you just get your head down and get on with it.
"There's a good bunch of lads here as well of a few faces I already know, so I don't think there will be a problem getting the atmosphere going!"
Harriers expect both their home and away kits to be on sale at the club shop by the time of Saturday's first pre-season friendly against Albion at Aggborough (12:30pm).
