Birmingham striker Garry O'Connor is poised for showdown talks with manager Alex McLeish next week.

Blues have a two-year option on the Scotland international, who is out of contract, but want to renegotiate fresh terms with the forward despite his succession of injury problems.

The 27-year-old is understood to be eager to remain at St Andrew's but has not played since October, after complications with a long-standing groin injury.

Further down the pecking order at Blues is winger Robin Shroot, who McLeish is looking to again farm out on loan next season to harden him into a first-team performer.

The 22-year-old has already been farmed out to Walsall and Burton Albion in the Football League since joining from non-league Harrow Borough in January 2009, and could even be sent up to Scotland as his next port of call.

McLeish said: "I've thought about Robin going out for league experience next year and possibly to Scotland. I've suggested that as a way forward for him.

"I think he'd do well there and I think it would be good for him to get some consistency from games."
