Kidderminster Harriers defender Lee Vaughan has vowed to clean up his act after sitting out the first four games of his new club's season.

The 23-year-old must serve a suspension for accumulating 15 yellow cards and committing an incident of improper conduct playing for AFC Telford last season, with his ban confirmed earlier this month.

Vaughan believes that having to watch from the sidelines is ample punishment in itself, especially as he is allowed to figure in the 10 pre-season friendlies Harriers have lined up.

But when the big Blue Square Premier kick-off comes in August, there will be no place at right-back for the new-boy.

He said: "It is going to be horrible for me to be missing from those four games.

"I will get to build up a bit of momentum in pre-season, so to have to miss out is a bit frustrating and irritating.

"But I just hope we do well in those games and the manager is given a bit of a headache when I do come back.

"We are bound to be busy with games early on, so hopefully within a couple of weeks I will be ready to go."

Vaughan insists he is not a dirty player, despite his disciplinary record last term, more frustration with a season that ended in mid-table of the Blue Square North.

He said: "I know it is something I need to work on.

"I want nothing more than to win and I think half of the bookings I picked up last year were purely through frustration, as we had a bad year at Telford.

"After all, I'm 23 aren't I? I need to grow up a bit!"
