New Stafford Rangers assistant manager Steve Wynn admits that his return to Marston Road is still sinking in after joining the backroom team.
The 40-year-old was confirmed as boss Chris Brindley's No 2 last weekend, replacing Darren Read who has left to become former Wolves and England winger Andy Sinton's assistant at AFC Telford.
Wynn was also at Telford as recently as April as first-team coach, but ended a four-year association to follow assistant Larry Chambers and manager Rob Smith out of the door when the pair were axed after the Bucks again missed promotion.
Rangers then came calling for their former player, who spent two seasons at Marston Road when Ron Reid was boss after joining from Football League club Doncaster in 1986, with Brindley insisting the popular coach was his first choice for the job.
Tettenhall-based Wynn has had a long association with the game and a strong footballing upbringing, having spent four years at Manchester United as a schoolboy from Aldersley.
The former left-back now heads off on his summer holidays for a fortnight today and will officially meet with the squad when the players return for pre-season training on July 1.
And Wynn feels it's a homecoming of sorts to be back at the club he last represented over 20 years ago.
He said: "It's something that has come out of the blue, it's a massive club that I know all about from my time here as a player. The fans are also very good, over the years they are probably the best set of supporters I have been involved with.
"It's an opportunity for me and one that I am looking forward to."
