Wolves striker Kevin Doyle has avoided the celebrity magazine curse after walking down the aisle.
The £6.5million forward followed former Molineux golden boy Robbie Keane's lead when wedding long-term love Jennifer Harney away from the glare of the cameras.
The happy couple snubbed a lucrative offer from 'OK!' magazine to cover their nuptials at Adare Manor in Limerick.
Doyle said: "We definitely didn't want to do any magazine deals. It puts too much pressure on the day and that's not what it should be about.
"I think doing that often puts a curse on the marriage. You shouldn't profit from your own wedding.
"We kept it pretty low-key. We're not into any of that celebrity stuff, it was just our closest friends and family."
The couple, originally from Wexford, tied the knot at an intimate ceremony outside the city.
He and Jennifer, whom he first met at the age of 16 while attending the National Ploughing Championships, were joined by Doyle's Ireland teammates Andy Keogh from Wolves, Stephen Hunt and Shane Long from his previous club Reading.
Doyle's cousin Joanne is Hunt's wife and the Wolves striker introduced the couple to each other.
The happy couple, who left for a mystery destination on honeymoon on Monday, are now currently putting the finishing touches to their 9,000 sq ft mansion, which is being built on the family's land at Redinagh, Killurin, Co Wexford, close to where his parents Bernie and Paddy live.
