Kidderminster Harriers have signed versatile England C international Tom Shaw on a one-year deal after his release from Blue Square Premier rivals Tamworth.
The utility man, predominately a midfielder, is known to manager Steve Burr through his call-up the national team last year, where the Harriers boss is assistant to Paul Fairclough.
Shaw becomes the fifth new capture of the summer following Danny Lewis, Lee Vaughan, Keith Briggs and David Hankin into Aggborough, and the second of the week after Hankin's signing was confirmed yesterday.
The 23-year-old has Blue Square Premier experience from a spell at Rushden & Diamonds between 2006 and 2008, then dropping into the Blue Square North with Tamworth who were promoted a year later with Shaw gaining further experience in non-league's top flight last season.
The former Nottingham Forest academy player also played three games for Mansfield at the level before joining Tamworth, earlier serving Rugby Town and Nuneaton on loan before breaking through at Rushden.
Now Shaw comes on board to join the Harriers' charge for next season, with further signings expected before the players return for pre-season training on July 5.
His ability to play in a variety of positions makes him an ideal squad player for boss Burr, who will have to make his budget go a long way this year.
He said: "Tom knows all about the Conference and has played at this level for a number of years. He is most comfortable in the middle of the park and we have some good options there but with Tom I know I have somebody who can play well in a number of positions.
"That is good to know, as with a small squad like we have, he is really valuable."
